What is permanent cosmetics

Permanent cosmetics are a type of cosmetic tattooing (also known as micropigmentation or semi-permanent cosmetics). Semi permanent cosmetics involves the application of pigment into the skin. Although the treatment uses needles, these do not penetrate deep into the skin as tattooing and the needles are smaller.

Will it hurt?

Although semi permanent cosmetics are a form of tattooing, the pain factor is considered to be less pronounced as the treatments are gentler and less invasive. For most people it is not a problem. For others it can be a little uncomfortable depending on the individual’s pain threshold. However anesthetic creams are applied prior to treatment and continued throughout to keep any discomfort to a minimum. Many clients are very surprised at how little discomfort they experience.

What does the treatment involve?

An initial consultation will be used to discuss your requirements and help you decide on the result that will best suit you. Everything from your lifestyle, image, hair, skin tone and facial features will be taken into consideration. I will then custom blend colours to perfectly match your requirements. The treatment itself involves gently implanting microscopic particles of pigment into the reticular layer of skin.

Will it look natural?

Yes, the healed result will look very natural. Take a look through the portfolio images and you will see that the results can be tailored to whatever look, colour tone or strength best suits you.

How long will they last?

This all depends on the individual. I recommend colour boost treatments every 6 – 9 months to keep them looking fresh. If you leave your brows without the booster treatment, they can stay for between 1 – 3 years. They will always gradually fade.

Do my natural brows need to be shaved off?

Absolutely not. If you have natural brow hairs, I will work with what you have, subtly integrating their work to suit your natural brow style.

What will I look like straight after the treatment?

Brow treatments tend to look darker in colour immediately after the treatment. It can be around 40% darker. This softens after a few days. They can also be slightly red but this fades within a few hours.

How quickly will it heal?

Everyone is different, but as a general rule the surface skin generally heals between 3-7 days after the treatment, and 10 – 14 days below the surface. Many people will return to work the same day after a treatment. You will be provided with a balm to use every day for a week, for two weeks.

How long will it take?

Treatment times vary depending on how advanced or detailed the required result is. Although some treatments may take as little as 1.5 hours, you should set aside 2.5 hours for your appointment.

Can I wear make-up after the treatment?

You can wear make-up straight after the treatment, just not on the brows. You need to wait until the treatment area has healed, this could take a good week to two weeks, before applying make-up on the brow. If applying cosmetics elsewhere ensure you don’t get any in the treatment area, as this could lead to healing problems.

What if I have medical issues?

A full assessment of your medical background will be made prior to the treatment. While there are some occasions when people are not suitable for semi-permanent cosmetics due to medical matters.

Semi-permanent make-up after care procedures

You may resume your normal activities straight after treatment. There will be a slight tenderness, swelling and redness to the area which will normally cease in 24 hours. In rare cases there may also be some bruising. The treated area will always appear darker immediately after the treatment this will lighten and soften over the next week to 10 days. There may be slight flaking over the area during healing.

This needs to be taken within 3 months and is used for any finishing touches that may be required to adjust shape, color or density. It is your responsibility to ensure you book this appointment, going over the 3 months period will result in additional charges.
